Saint Anne was the wife of Joachim. She was advanced in years and her prayers for a child had not been answered. As she prayed beneath a laurel tree near her home in Galilee an angel appeared and told her the Lord had heard her prayer. She became the mother of the Blessed Virgin Mary. She is the patroness of housewives, women in labor, cabinet-makers, and miners. Her emblem in a door. Her name in Hebrew means "grace". Her Feast Day is July 26th.
